With Tango, we want you to have the security of emergency dialing at your fingertips. That's why Tango 911 is a standard feature, activated when you sign up for service.
A Different Kind of 911
Because Tango Internet Phone Service is a VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service, emergency dialing works a little differently than you are probably used to:
Traditional Telephone Service
- 911 is dialed
- Call is routed through the Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) which provides emergency services in your area. The appropriate PSAP is determined by the physical address assigned to the telephone number.
- Operator at the 911 Emergency Response Center receives call along with information from the PSAP, including name, address and phone number.
- Emergency personnel are dispatched to address, even if caller is unable to give any information to the operator.
Tango Internet Phone Service
- 911 is dialed
- Call is routed through the Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) which provides emergency services in your area. The appropriate PSAP is determined by the phone number assigned to your ATA. The physical address is determined by the information provided BY YOU when setting up their account through the online account manager.
- The call will be answered by an operator at the PSAP's general access line, not necessarily the 911 Emergency Services line. YOU MUST GIVE THE OPERATOR YOUR INFORMATION.
- Emergency personnel are dispatched to address.
