LIFELINE TELEPHONE PROGRAM
Lifeline service is intended to assist in making telephone service affordable for all customers. A Lifeline customer’s telephone bill is currently lowered by $9.25 per month in the Dunkirk & Fredonia service area and the Cassadaga Telephone service area. This amount is equal to the Federal Communications Commission-ordered. Interstate Access Charge plus a reduction in the rate for basic local residential exchange service. Rates are subject to change.
In order to be eligible for the discount, the applicant must meet state-set income criteria. In New York State, individuals must be Income Eligible to receive assistance through one of the eight state programs: Medicaid, Home Relief, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Food Stamps, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Veterans Disability Pensions (VDP), or Veterans Surviving Spouse Pensions (VSSP). Applicants must provide proof that they are receiving one or more of the beneﬁts to qualify.
